Adults

Making sense of your story, creating meaningful change.

Adults Psychology

Many of us carry experiences that continue to shape how we think, feel, relate to others, and navigate the world, often without realising it. You may find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, struggling with self-doubt, feeling disconnected from yourself, getting stuck in cycles of worry or wondering why certain situations affect you so deeply.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, make sense of these experiences, and understand how your past may be influencing your life today. Through this process, we can begin to untangle patterns that no longer serve you, strengthen your connection with yourself, and create meaningful and lasting change.

Together, we will explore your story, including the experiences that have shaped you, the strengths that have helped you cope, and the challenges that may be keeping you feeling stuck. Therapy is a collaborative process, tailored to your individual needs and goals, with the aim of helping you move towards a life that feels more fulfilling, connected, and aligned with who you want to be.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, stuck in unhelpful patterns, struggling in relationships, or navigating difficult life circumstances. Others arrive with a sense that something does not feel quite right but find it difficult to put into words. Whatever has brought you here, you do not have to figure it out on your own.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including complex trauma, PTSD, dissociation and dissociative disorders, anxiety, panic, depression, OCD, phobias, grief and loss, stress and burnout, low self-esteem, relationship and attachment difficulties, emotional regulation difficulties, substance use and behavioural addictions, parenting concerns, personality-related difficulties, dissociative identity disorder, self-harm, and life transitions. Whether your difficulties stem from recent events or experiences from many years ago, therapy can provide an opportunity to process these experiences, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and build healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

The therapies I draw from and tailor to each client’s individual needs include evidence-based approaches such as EMDR Therapy, EMDR 2.0, Schema Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness-Based CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), parts work informed by the structural dissociation model, polyvagal-informed techniques, and more.

At its heart, therapy is about creating enough safety to explore what has been difficult, strengthen what is already within you, and move towards a life that feels more authentic, connected, and meaningful.

PARTS WORK AND EMDR THERAPY

A parts-based approach is based on the idea that we all have different sides or "parts" of ourselves that develop through our life experiences, particularly those that have been difficult or overwhelming.

You may notice this in everyday life - for example, a part of you that tries to keep everyone happy, a part that is highly self-critical, a part that becomes angry or defensive to protect you, or a part that carries feelings of hurt, fear, or sadness. These parts often develop for a reason. Even when they create difficulties in our lives today, they are usually trying to protect us in the best way they know how.

Rather than judging or fighting against these parts, therapy helps you understand them with curiosity and compassion. This can help make sense of your thoughts, emotions, reactions, and relationship patterns, while creating a greater sense of inner balance and self-understanding.

When combined with EMDR therapy, a parts-based approach can help build a stronger sense of safety and stability before processing difficult memories. It allows the protective parts of you, as well as the parts carrying pain or fear, to feel understood and supported, making it easier to work through difficult experiences without feeling overwhelmed.

Over time, this approach can support greater self-awareness, improved emotional regulation, reduced inner conflict, and a stronger connection with yourself. By addressing the deeper patterns that keep you feeling stuck, therapy can support meaningful and lasting change.

Because this approach addresses the underlying processes that contribute to many mental health difficulties, it can be helpful for a wide range of concerns, including PTSD, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, low self-worth, difficulties with emotional regulation and relationships, and other long-standing patterns that no longer serve you.
